Cybersecurity startup Ocean has officially emerged from stealth with $28 million in funding, introducing a new generation of agentic email security designed to combat increasingly sophisticated digital threats. Backed by leading investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Picture Capital, Cerca Partners, and several notable angel investors, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of AI-driven cybersecurity innovation.

Founded in 2024 by Shay Shwartz and Oran Moyal, Ocean operates between New York City and Tel Aviv, bringing together deep expertise in artificial intelligence, threat detection, and enterprise protection. The company’s platform introduces specialized AI agents capable of examining every incoming email with remarkable precision, going far beyond traditional spam filters and surface-level detection systems.
Rather than simply scanning messages for suspicious keywords or attachments, Ocean’s technology investigates the intent behind every communication. Its AI agents analyze conversation history, sender behavior, contextual signals, infrastructure patterns, files, identities, financial requests, and embedded links to determine whether a message poses a genuine threat. The system is specifically designed to identify advanced attacks such as business email compromise, vendor impersonation, and highly convincing AI-generated phishing attempts that increasingly evade conventional security tools.

The platform also streamlines operations for enterprise security teams by automating tasks that traditionally consume valuable time and resources. From managing quarantine releases to handling reported emails and incident response workflows, Ocean reduces operational strain while improving response accuracy. Employees receiving suspicious messages are simultaneously provided with real-time guidance, helping organizations strengthen awareness alongside automated protection.

According to CEO Shay Shwartz, modern cyberattacks are becoming harder to detect because malicious actors now leverage artificial intelligence to create highly polished and contextually believable emails. He emphasized that today’s threats are intentionally designed to blend seamlessly into legitimate business communication, making harmful intent far more difficult to recognize.

With cyber threats evolving rapidly and AI reshaping both attack methods and defense strategies, Ocean enters the market at a moment when enterprises worldwide are searching for more intelligent, adaptive approaches to email security.
